On October 10, 2015, the Mid-South Region held its annual Oktoberfest party and charity fund raiser. The event held at the home of Rob and Debbie Hale, started with a concours. There were a total of 34 cars entered and trophies were handed out in five different classes. While Ric and Linda Travis’ magnificent 1964 356SC was a crowd favorite, it was nudged out for Best in Show by Dave Reynold’s 1973 911RS.
In keeping with the Oktoberfest theme, German favorites such as bratwurst, red cabbage and German Chocolate cake were served. After the libations flowed and people mingled watching Tennessee beat Georgia in football, the true heart of the event kicked off with a charity auction. Members brought some new and some “slightly” used items to put in the auction. These included signed Porsche racing posters, one of a kind Porsche prints and paperweights, MSR-PCA logo shirts, wine from John and Dee Caradonna’s cellar and many other generous contributions.
As part of the Oktoberfest tradition the Mid-South Region Club always chooses a charity to sponsor. For the third year in a row our charity was Wings Cancer Foundation of Memphis (http://www.wingscancerfoundation.org/). One of our members, Pat Williams, was among a select group of elite riders chosen to participate in “Ride 2 Rosemary,” a five (5) day Five Hundred and Twenty Five (525) mile benefit bicycle ride from Memphis, Tennessee to Rosemary Beach, Florida, Through the auction and other fund raising activities, the club helped to sponsor Pat and was able to donate $2,800 to the Wings Cancer Foundation. .
This event was graced with a beautiful fall afternoon and evening. MSR-PCA appreciates and thanks its members for the generosity they showed in supporting Wings Cancer Foundation.
